A Star Wars reference.

The film Star Wars is frequently mentioned throughout the series. It is a major part of Eric's character and has been ever since he has seen it. It started with a dream of Eric's where each of the main cast members from That 70's Show was a cast member from the movie Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Ever since then Eric has used Star Wars in his daily life. He constantly makes references to it with him being the character Luke Skywalker who goes through similar situations as he does in his life.

One of Eric's fantasies come true.

Eric even has Star Wars playsets and they are among his prized possessions. As much to his dismay, his family and friends hate hearing about how much his life is like Star Wars but it doesn't stop him.

Eric would eventually name his daughter with Donna after the main female character from Star Wars, Leia Forman.

There is no try." prompts her to snark that Yoda was just a puppet with a man's hand up his butt. Once he threatens Leia the same way Red used to do, Eric dejectedly notes 'I studied Star Wars all my life and in the moment of truth I become my evil father!'
