Steven "Bud" James Hyde Sr. is a character on FOX comedy That '70s Show. He is portrayed by Robert Hays.

Character

Bud is Steven Hyde's absentee step-father and ex-husband of Edna Hyde. Bud Hyde worked as a bartender and is an alcoholic. Until the end of the 6th season, Steven Hyde thought Bud was his biological father. Bud Hyde abandoned Steven when he was a child and Steven was always angry at Bud for this. They temporarily reconciled in season 3, with Hyde even moving in with him. However, he would leave again at the beginning of season 4 after getting back together with Edna – forcing Hyde to move back to the Forman house. Hyde mentioned that Bud did attempt to get in touch with him again. However, Bud was passed out drunk on Hyde's car.

Hyde later learns that Bud was not really his father but a man named William Barnett is.
